im gonna start making sure everything i do is beneficial… i went to this symposium on civic engagement and learned about transformative activism… we see it every day and we dont even realize what it is… “be the change you want to see” thats the key… i need to stop talking… stop blogging… stop thinking… start living

This movement is special
I truly believe i am benefiting more than i know by being a part of this social movement to reclaim the lives of marginalized children by being a part of this freedom schools movement. the richness of this engaging curriculum is something our children need… even more it is something our children deserve… my soul is so heavy with the needs and suffering of my people… but i have been trying to somewhat ignore it and not take my rightful place as a part of a social movement… as a part of my community… when they hurt i hurt… i feel it so deeply the tears well up behind my eyes at random times in the day and i just know someone in my community is suffering at the hands of ignorance… suffering from the lack of resources…. suffering from the inability to assimilate… suffering from the abuse this restrictive system designed to funnel us into prison systems…. my heart is heavy but my spirit is hopeful… upwards of 2000 young people of color all gathered in one place because they too feel the suffering and have taken action to alleviate it… I WILL BE YOUR BALM… it is my charge to serve you… because when you love your people you MUST serve them…
